AlabiAfrican countries had unique ways of building structures before colonization. This study looks at the effect of regional expression on hospital architecture. Thus, considering how to use the resources available in that area to design and build a hospital that will be accommodating, physically sound, and provide patients with a sense of belonging and a peaceful environment, all while reflecting the region's culture. The ability of an ethnic group to express their cultural values through architecture raises the possibility that architectural forms and human self-awareness are linked. As a result, the social activity of construction leaves a cultural legacy. To gather information, the study will use the case technique in conjunction with non-participant observation. The research will also conduct a comprehensive literature review to investigate the relationship between regional expression and architecture, and documentary analysis will be used to evaluate the review.Item Metadata only Cultural Centre Ota:An Architectural Exposition of Hybrid Cultures(Bells University of Technology, Ota, 2016-07) ADESINA, Damilola Omusi; Arch. E.A. Ayo-VaughanThe thesis focuses on embracing the history and culture of the indigenous Ota people and uniting the growing population through the design of desirable spaces. The major research consideration for the project resides in creating an exposition of the Hybrid culture within the Ota region of Ogun State, Nigeria. The research was necessitated because of the ever-growing population: a lack of awareness amongst the growing population, of the newly evolving culture of the environment in which they reside. An analysis of the Ota Culture and its development forms the background for the research, starting with an identification of the general nature of the culture in Ota, Ogun state and narrowing down to the predominant culture of the larger group (Yoruba) that occupy the region. Identifying their elements, symbols and significant signs that form their culture in a bid to generate a suitable design. It is this new identify that the people of Ota would hopefully accept and identify with through the use of architecture. To celebrate this newly evolving cultural community, a cultural center is proposed.Item Metadata only Chronos Shopping Mall Epe; Lagos: The Impact Of Architectural Development On The Environment Of Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos(Bells University of Technology, 2023-08-12) OTEGBADE, Onaopemipo Oluwagbemiga; Dr. T.E. AdebakinA city's visual identity can be greatly impacted by high rise buildings because of their distinctive aesthetics and history. Missed use development and community involvement are given top priority in new urban-ism which combines various land uses into a single building.. In mixed use development, design zoning is essential to ensuring smooth transitions between spaces and effective use of amenities. This strategy encourages seamless transitions between residential commercial and recreational areas and fosters a feeling of connectivity. High-quality multipurpose facilities must be developed to improve land use due to land scarcity and cost.Due to a lack of space in cities and metropolises, tall buildings are rapidly expanding and providing uniform stability and security benefits. These structures are essentials to contemporary urban design because they have more structural elements and building components than other buillding types.Mixed-use high rise structures are essentials combine residential units with commercial activities by combining living areas on the upper floors with commercial areas on the lower floors.Item Metadata only National Museum Of Modern Arts, Abeokuta, Ogun State: Spatial Analysis of Selected National Museums In South West Nigeria(Bells University of Technology, Ota, 2023-08-12) OPEYEMI, David Emmanuel; Dr. T.E. AmoleThe use of renewable energy technologies to improve energy security globally, providing power to remove locations and supplementing the grid supply has been a good step in the right direction. However, the implementation of these technologies engenders some problems which tend to reduces the consistency and this is essentially the variability of renewable source that cause technologies lead to variation in the quality of power in the grid as such these control strategies that are outlined in this paper will help to correct the fluctuations. The stochastic nature of renewable energy that are outlined in this paper will help to correct the fluctuations. Frequency stability is a critical requirement in power systems; in Microgrid (MG) systems where renewable energy technologies are prevalent frequency instability can be observed and this is a result of the fact that their supply is not consistent. Literatures on some control strategies which are utilized to mitigate fluctuations in the reliability of the renewable energy technologies namely: Model Predictive Control (MPC), Proportion Integral (PI) control, drop control etc. are discussed briefly.Item Metadata only Modern Art Gallery, Ota, Ogun State: Influence of Art On Architecture of Selected Exhibition Centres In SouthWest, Nigeria(Bells University of Technology, 2023-08-12) ELEJE, Chukwuemeka Inya; Dr. Anifowose T.EArt are intricate forms of human expression that have fundamental similarities in their use of visual elements, organisation principles, and sensory engagement.while these two worlds are intertwined, architecture operates within predefined parameters. FakoladeCommunity life is closely connected with an understanding of relaxation with the urge for another vitalizing influence, beside the job and the family - an influence capable of expanding man's narrow private existence. Community spaces play an important role in the success of a city and its inhabitants. They become the foundation to which those living and visiting in the area come together and communicate. No great civilization has existed which has not fulfilled man's need of a community -physical, psychological, whatever is an important aspect that needs to be focused on in the country. If places are indeed a fundamental aspect of existence in the world, if they are sources of security and identity for individuals and for groups of people, then it is important that that the means of experiencing, creating and maintain significant places are not lost. It is common knowledge in most if not all Nigerian towns, no conscious and determined effort has been made in providing the citizens a civic facility capable of generating a belonging in them, the situation is not different rendezvous for citizens and as the same time revive the disappearing cultural identity and the weak connection between the culture and its peopleItem Metadata only Post Disaster Relief Camp, Lagos Mitigation of Natural and Manmade Disaster Through Architecture(Bells University of Technology, 2019-08-12) ASUQUO, David Ikomense; Prof. Zanzan UjiDisaster relief shelters play a vital role in Large-scale disaster and are an important part of disaster response and recovery. Shelters are used to provide private and secure place for people to live who have left or lost their usual accommodations as a result of some form of disaster. The principal aim of this research work is to evaluate post-disaster relief camp design and management practices in selected areas in Lagos. It also examines the extent to which environmental, economic, technical, and socio-cultural criteria affect the provision and performance of DR shelters, and how such factors might be taken into account in the decision-making and design processes of such shelters. To achieve this, well-structured questionnaires were sent out to users and occupants of commercial buildings in Ikeja, Lagos State. Disaster relief shelters not only provide immediate and short-term shelter for the victim of a disaster, but they also help them to recover from the trauma of disaster as well as provide a base to start the process of rehabilitation. A review of the literature, case studies, guidance, and reports relating to the design of DR shelters indicates that their provision and performance are not currently as effective as they could be. A lack of adequate consideration with regard to climate conditions, locally available materials and skills, cultural and social issues, delays, cost constraints, and poor location selection for DR shelters have each been identified as source of poor performance contributing to an unacceptable standard of living. Moreover, there seems to be a lack of sufficient consideration with regard to the design of Disaster Relief camps for future storage and re-use.Item Metadata only Model Housing Complex, Lekki Lagos: A Design Proposal(Bells University of Technology, 2019-07-12) AJIBODUN, Muyiwa Adebayo; Dr. AdewoluIn a world with an increasing urban population and housing need, understanding how built environments can facilitate convivial living becomes an issue. Through the implementation of bioclimatic concept in building, energy demand can be reduced leading to increased users' satisfaction. The modern world building scene tends to depend more and more on the economic climate as well as the geographical climate itself, as none of the major players in the construction game can afford to ignore current conditions and dismiss logical solutions that can drastically cut the impact on the environment as well as the exploitation costs. A mixed-use development is a real estate project with planned integration of some combination of retail, office, residential, hotel, recreation or other functions. It is pedestrian-oriented and contains elements of a live-work-play environment.Item Metadata only Waste management and recycling plant, Saje Dumpsite, Abeokuta: Architectural solution to sustainable energy(Bells University of Technology, 2019-08-12) ADEYEMI, Oreoluwa Abisoye; Dr. G. Fakolade, FNIAOgun State South-west Nigeria has been need of constant power supply supported by introducing alternative means of producing electrical energy. The result of such efforts led to industrialization of Ogun State especially its capital, Abeokuta, in fulfillment of the Five Cardinal Programmes of "Mission to Rebuild" Ogun State and in compliance with the Federal Government's approval to generate power for all tiers of the government. This architectural thesis came about as an outshoot of such project. The research approach was via interview and site visitation with the Saje dumpsite coordinator and secondary data collection on waste-to-energy technologies in and outside Nigeria. The Ministry of Environment Abeokuta, Ogun state was scouted afetr due to Saje dumpsite being the only and largest dumpsite in Abeokuta. Nonetheless, documented information about the dumpsite could be counted as little to none despite it was previously a quarry site or motive could be based on the sensitivity of the data must not research the eyes and ears of the public. An interview with the coordinator who had supervised Saje dumpsite for 12 years (under the assistance and permission of the Ministry of Environment Abeokuta) was viewed as the quick fix to such this case as this case as the most the reseonable and weighted source of knowledge,
