Abstract

Human resource management practices and employees' retention in private institutions has been studied and attempts towards a clear link still has some gaps. The argument that effective implementation of human resource management practices in organization is a key source of competitive advantage and has a positive relationship with employees' retention has continued to gain an increase in acceptance and that is why human resource practices is important and has also been acknowledged in higher institutions. The main objective of this study is to examine the impact of human resource management practices, in particular, recruitment and selection, compensation and training on employees' retention in private Universities in Ogun west Senatorial District Ogun State, Nigeria. The areas of study are Crawford University, Bells University and Covenant University all located in Ogun west Senatorial District, Ogun state. Convenience stratified sampling technique was used in this study.
