Abstract

The study examined employee engagement and retention in selected food and beverage industries in Ado-Odo Ota LGA, Ogun state. The specific objectives are to; determine the effect of loyalty on employee retention in the food and beverage industry in Ado-Odo Ota, determine the influence of commitment on employe retention in the food and beverage industry in Ado-Odo Ota and to ascertain the influence of trust on employee retention in the food and beverage industry in Ado-Odo Ota. This study adopted a survey research design; data were collected through the use of questionnaire. The total population of the study was 1355 comprising of the staff of De-United foods industries Limited. the members of staff were randomly selected from the production, Marketing/sales, accounting/finance and Administration departments. The sample size of 309 was determined using the Tari Yamane's formula and further stratified using Boyle's formula. The findings indicate that the coefficient of the ordinal regression on loyalty was (1.4443) and the p value was .000. This means that loyalty is positively signed and statistically significant at 55 level of significance. It also means that an increase in loyalty results to an increase in employee retention (x=0.61, p<0.005).
