The game of soccer has gained so much ground. It has become a rallying force even nd tensions abound. Many have found soccer watching as a services opportunity which yields good income. Unfortunately standards have not been developed to guide prospective investors. Many cities are dotted with shanties which portend great risk to human life. In incident in Nyanghasang neighborhood Calabar, viewers suffered an inferno in which several lives were lost while watching a Manchester United game. Since then I had imagined that viewing centers should receive adequate attention from government and its is my strong persuasion that the architect has a lot to offer from a design perspective. Why would people choose to watch soccer in a viewing center rather than a home? What measures should we deploy to stimulate more excitement in viewing centers? What safety measures would ensure more profitability in viewing center investments? What architectural value could viewing centers add to the city of Calabar and other cities? This topic seeks to address these and other issues which would generate new dimensions in viewing center design.
