Oke Mosan Conference Centre; Abeokuta : An Evaluation of Fire Safety in Selected Public Buildings Safety in Selected Public Buildings South West, Nigeria.

Most public buildings in Nigeria have ignored fire safety culture and practices, which has led to a rise in the in the number of fires in the country. The purpose of this research is to evaluate fire prevention and control procedures in a sample of public buildings across Nigeria. Users of a subset of public facilities in southwestern Nigeria's Ogun State were handed comprehensive questionnaires to achieve this end . The data analysis revealed that the bulk of the highlighted fire protection equipment is either not there, is inoperable, or is not being used by the building's tenants. Residents of the building were found to have received insufficient education about fire prevention, first aid, and egress protocols. Ignorance among building designers and professionals, as well as a lack of effectives government policy on fire code administration and execution, are two factors working against the widespread adoption of fire safety measures in public buildings
