Beacon Library, Ibeju Lekki: Impact of Lightings on Users' Visual Comfort in Reading Spaces of Public Libraries.

Libraries are of the most important places that offer knowledge, services and a suitable study environment, and if well designed can have a great impact on students performance and social behavior. Bad lighting design in reading areas can however affect the performance of library users. This study assessed the impact of daylight for improved user visual comfort in library reading spaces. The study identified various visual comfort parameters for daylight integration in reading spaces. It further examined the impact of lighting behavior on users level of comfort. In addition, how indoor light variation (at different locations) to enhance visual task and luminance was investigated. The study finally proposed a design a strategy in adopting daylight availability and adequacy in reading spaces. For an in-depth assessment, the study combines questionnaire survey with personal assessment to of covenant University and University of Lagos libraries.
