dc.description.abstractA museum is a frequently imagined as a venue that stores things or artefacts presented in a specific format with the objective of imparting information to its audience. Understanding how lighting influences audience happiness and engagement in exhibition rooms might help museum visitors engage more with exhibits. This study aims to improve the functionality of museums through exhibition space illumination design. The research was restricted to three museums in the study area. Data collection using questionnaire and a literature study to investigate lighting design within exhibition rooms in these museums in relation to audience satisfaction. The findings from the research indicates museums have seen less patronage due to lower satisfaction of visitors, although, a number of visitors to museums feel some level of satisfaction but opined that user experience can be improved if natural light was well combined with artificial light to improve the visual quality of the display gallery.
