Drug Rehabilitation Centre: Abuja Combating Addiction Through Architecture

This project titled 'Drug rehabilitation Centre Abuja: combating addiction through architecture" was conceived as a result of the growing rate of drug addiction in the FCT and the nation as a whole. The menace of drug abuse has eaten deep into the fabrics of our society; however, with effective rehabilitation centers and counselling programmes, the problems can be tackled through campaign against drug abuse by government and other relevant authorities. The aim of this project is to produce an Architectural design model of a Drug Addicts Rehabilitation Centre that will help to combat drug addiction and reintegrate addicts back into the society. Several case studies of both international and local rehabilitation centers were carried considered in rehabilitation center as natural element aids healing, and also a good rehabilitation centers should be established in every state in Nigeria and qualified health counsellors should be established in every state in Nigeria and qualified health counsellors should be employed in helping drug addicts by giving them special attention on how to go about the withdrawal system. Furthermore, every health care institution, in this case a drug rehabilitation Centre, should incorporate biophilic design principles as much as possible, as it enhances self -healing in patients.
