Abstract

The study examined the effect of human resource management practices (welfare, recruitment and selection, human resource planning and employee empowerment) on job satisfaction, all with a view to ascertaining the relationship between human resource management practices and job satisfaction. Primary data were used in this study, and the research adopted a descriptive research design. Two hundred and ninety questionnaires as obtained by the simple random sampling techniques were administered in the selected breweries in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government area of Ogun state. Two hundred and twenty-nine were correctly attended to, while sixty-one were effective. In analyzing the questionnaire, data analytical procedure of frequency tables and percentages were used as descriptive statistics. Inferential statistics of Pearson correlation was used to test the four hypotheses in the study. The study findings established that there is a positive relationship between welfare and job satisfaction at 0.01 level The findings also established that there is no positive correlation between recruitment and selection and job satisfaction at 0.469 level. The findings also indicated positive relationship established between human resource planning and job satisfaction at p=0.064 level. Furthermore, the study established that there is a positive relationship between employee empowerment and job satisfaction at 0.01level. It can be concluded that for employees' job satisfaction to be high, the management needs to focus more on human resources managements practices adopted in the organization.
