Item Metadata only Development of Model Predictive Control Based Technique For Optimal Freequency Control in Hybrid Microgrid System(Bells University of Technology, 2022-05-12) IMARHIAGBE, Owomano Nosagieagbon; Dr. A.O. AmoleThe use of renewable energy technologies to improve energy security globally, providing power to remove locations and supplementing the grid supply has been a good step in the right direction. However, the implementation of these technologies engenders some problems which tend to reduces the consistency and this is essentially the variability of renewable source that cause technologies lead to variation in the quality of power in the grid as such these control strategies that are outlined in this paper will help to correct the fluctuations. The stochastic nature of renewable energy that are outlined in this paper will help to correct the fluctuations. Frequency stability is a critical requirement in power systems; in Microgrid (MG) systems where renewable energy technologies are prevalent frequency instability can be observed and this is a result of the fact that their supply is not consistent. Literatures on some control strategies which are utilized to mitigate fluctuations in the reliability of the renewable energy technologies namely: Model Predictive Control (MPC), Proportion Integral (PI) control, drop control etc. are discussed briefly.
