    MTN Learning Resource Center Lekki Lagos: Study of Inclusive Design Strategies in Institutional Buildings in Nigeria

    In the past, most of our facilities in Nigeria, public and private have been designed and built to be used by the abled body people only. Physically challenged, temporarily disabled, pregnant women, the sick, and the aged have always struggled to use our facilities without help or support. This challenge is a product of avoidable planning and design errors. Therefore, this research work aimed at establishing a barrier-free strategy for institutional buildings in Nigeria using a inclusive design strategy. The inclusive design concept is an ideology towards ensuring that facilities provide accessibility and usability for different abilities. Building users differ from one another in size, age, and strength. Buildings at any point or the other must provide equal access and a sense of belonging to all. The qualitative and multiple case study research investigated and carried out a comparative analysis of some selected buildings from Nigeria institutions of learning (Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye; Covenant University, Ota; Federal polytechnic, Mubi).
