    Senate Building: Federal Al University Gusau Achieving Techniques of Passive Cooling Through Architectural Design

    The need for proper administration of a higher institution of learning makes a senate building a compulsory structure on campuses since it serves as the administrative block for the institution and it is normally the most iconic structure close to the main entrance for proper identification. This study aimed to discover passive design features through considerable literature study that can be included in senate building to make it energy efficient. The study also aimed to explore and evolve means of controlling heat gain naturally e.g. Wind, Sun, etc. which affect building 'Architecturally". By using and applying passive cooling techniques, i.e. choice of plan shapes, forms, type of materials, choice of finishing construction techniques, use of building components, orientation of the building to the sun and to the wind, percentage openings (Fenestrations), landscaping, and choice of a suitable sun shading devices that will serve the purpose on Shading as well with aesthetic.
